Walking with Giants
In honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary, the McAninch Art Center and Cleve Carney Museum of Art, in association with the College of DuPage Foundation, present Walking With Giants, a free, outdoor, walkable exhibition celebrating American artistic achievement.
The exhibition features 10 larger-than-life painted silhouette sculptures, each approximately 10 feet tall, installed along a walkable route surrounding the MAC on the College of DuPage campus in Glen Ellyn. Developed with community input and created by contemporary artists, the works honor influential American figures in visual art, music, theater, and dance.
I was assigned to design and execute John Williams, Misty Copland, Norman Rockwell, Rogers and Hammerstein and Bob Fosse.
The technique I used is a combination of graphic and expression, a combination seldom attempted. I believe it is my rightful duty as an artist to move boundaries. My job is to stop the viewers for five more seconds. If that happens, then I believe it was worth the risk.
