May 31 to September 21, 2025 Cleve Carney Museum of Art Glen Ellyn, Illinois

Waves of DuPage celebrates the landmarks and unique character of cities throughout DuPage County. Inspired by the traditional Japanese Ukiyo e art style, the project brings a fresh perspective to familiar places.

Thirty original illustrations were commissioned for the exhibition, highlighting the beauty, history, and identity of local communities.

Presented by the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, the project was exhibited alongside the Hokusai exhibition in the summer of 2025.

This project invites each city in DuPage County to submit one or more of their iconic landmarks, reimagined in the traditional Ukiyo-e art style in a contemporary approach. The goal is to create an imaginative and beautifully stylized landscape that blends past and present.

Alongside the exhibition are the village unveilings, and I am truly moved by the outpouring of enthusiasm and support.

The street was closed to accommodate seating as Mayor Mary Jo Mullen addressed the crowd from the podium.
